Hehe . A related story. About 5 or 6 years I was at the consumer electronics show. This is pre-recession so attendance was very high. I had an AT&T cell phone account. Translation: if you were lucky and stood on one foot, you could get a dial tone and make a phone call during CES. Anyway, I had an important conference call during the day so I thought I would try it using my cell phone. Anticipating problems, I started half hour early hoping to get a call through. Nope. No matter how many times I tried, I could not get a call out.
Frantic, I come outside to the main hallway of the convention center. To my surprise, there were no telephone booths. I walked back and forth. Searched every hall but could not find them. So I get a hold of a security guard and ask him where they were. He said they did not have any. That they had pulled them all out since everyone had a cell phone!!!
I got lucky and my son came to the show. I had my family on Verizon. I took his phone and got a crystal clear call out with zero problems. As soon as I got home, I changed carriers to Verizon.
