Last May, Porsche's 911 Hybrid was leading after more than 22 hours of the 24 Hours at Nurburgring. Sadly the engine gave way and BMW's M3 GT2 (Yahoo!!!!!), A Ferrari F430 and an Audi R8 came in to take the podium. The Hybrid needed to refuel after 11 laps compared to the other's 8 laps. Had it won, it would have sent a shockwave through the racing community.

That's 22 hours folks. Maybe next year they'll find a way to add just 2 hours more.

Your thoughts?

I always thought that a strategy for winning the Cannon Ball Run was to never need to stop. Just fill the back of a Turbo Volvo station wagon with a large gas tank and head west.

Given Porsche's track record I rather expect they'll dial the reliability in.
