I do what I often do and click on "Mark Forums Read" instead of "New Posts." Duh. So, as an accommodation to my advancing senility, most forums also have a link for "Today's Posts" which lets me see what's new.

Yes. They usually have it under "Quick Links" but some have in on the banner menu.

I don't see anything to do with today's post in hometheatershack. But do see a menu item in the latter called Today's Posts. Is that what you mean?

I see. Unfortunately, that requires manual editing of the HTML template. We would need to stage and test that in a separate environment to make sure we don't break anything else. Given the amount of work, it would be good to know how critical this change is before we invest the time :).

Well, I cannot assess how critical it is in general but I do use it often. Also, I cannot assess how much work is entailed. However, I do know that the function is available in almost every forum I frequent, so there seems to be a general consensus that it is of value. If not now, consider adding to the list for your next refreshing of the interface.

I will keep visiting this forum even if you do not implement it.

Well, I am pretty sure they don't have lazy forum admins like we have here :D.

Seriously, changes like it are hacks in my book. When the software cant' do something and you have to go hand-edit stuff, it can break with the next release. It is like changing the registry on the PC. You want to think twice before doing it.

I said I was lazy but did go and research how to do it and once I found out that it requires manual editing of the page templates, I hesitated to go and do it.

Will do. Many times these hacks become standard features of the software in the future.

I will keep visiting this forum even if you do not implement it.
Appreciate it :). I realize it seems to be a pain to have to work around capabilities you see in other forum software.

It does work. I just tested it twice, going from no messages to all of today's new messages. Make sure you are really logged out and the logout message reports that your cookies are cleared.
