Setting aside diamond encrusted cabinetry, if we are talking strictly 2-channel with 3 sources (1 turntable, 1 tape deck and 1 digital)...can you spend much more than $2.5M including room design? (I am sure the answer is 'you can'...but setting aside one-off $1M turntables...i mean the highest no-holds-barred stuff (that could be one-off...just not crap for suckers with no ears)...Rockport Arrakis II/Magico Horns/the Sphaerons/Eggleston Ivy/XLF + 2 Thors, Audio Note DAC 5th Element, Rockport Sirius, FM Acoustics or Kondo, Transparent Opus/Nordost Odin/Argento, Tripoint Troy/Spartan, HRS MXR isolation...

- Digital: $175K
- Turntable: $200K
- Tape Deck: $35K
- Preamp: $100K
- Amp: $450K (2 sets dual monos for main speakers)
- Speakers: $500K (towers plus dual subs each with separate amps)
- Cables: $300K
- Room: $500K (Rockport Technologies style, poured 19" concrete, room within a room, etc.)

That system is hideous....I can't imagine anyone smart enough to aquire enough money to buy it, to be that stupid to buy something from Bang to begin with...Thanks for the laugh.

I think it goes with the territory. I can think of a few hideous looking watches too with lots of bling.

Wasn't it about 12 or so years ago that this butt ugly Patek went for several million large ones on Antiquorum--in large part because they only made IIRC six of them.

Talk about diminishing returns. 40,000 pounds for bronze to 3 million pounds for gold! Perfect for the "It costs more, so it must sound better" audiophile.

Could Fremer or Valin hear the difference? Ca Ching!

Lipstick on a pig.

Reminds me of the old joke:

Old guy in bar to hot chick: Would you sleep with me for a million bucks?

Chick: Sure!

Old guy: How about 20 bucks?

Chick: What do you think I am?

Old guy: We've established that; now we're negotiating price.
