I have always loved this LP since it first came out including all of the cool stuff they put inside the record jacket. Even back when I was a young teenager (is there any other kind?) hearing this over a Garrard table, Grado cartridge, Lafayette integrated amp and Lafayette speakers, I knew this LP was special in terms of the sound they captured live. As my system has improved, my thoughts haven’t changed.

Recording a live concert is always difficult and for a 1970s rock record, Live at Leeds sounds fantastic and I think represents the Who at their peak. Highly recommended for those who love the Who.

Always one of my favorites also. I loved the "live" sound of this recording.

For those who love the Who in general and Pete Townsend in particular, I have another gem for you. There is a LP of the Secret Policeman’s Ball issued by Amnesty International that has Pete Townsend playing two cuts on acoustic guitar and singing. The two cuts are “Pinball Wizard” and “Drowned.” They have to be heard to be believed and understood. One man and his guitar and voice and it’s incredible. The speed that Pete Townsend can play an acoustic guitar is pretty incredible.

Never mind the politics involved in the making of the album (unless you love and believe in them of course), those two songs are priceless.

I'll bet I have the copy that i bought when it was released. I haven't listened to it since then. Saw them in London back in 1980, Keith Moon was dead by then, I can't remember who played drums. That was the same summer that 'The Kid's are Alright' premiered, and I remember standing in a crowd at the theatre when they showed up.

It's worth a spin on your table if you can find it.

Just bought the Amnesty International 4-CD set of Bob Dylan tunes played by various artists including Pete Townsend.
