Has anyone ever had a dart breakdown, what was it and how responsive were they to repair it and what was the cost involved?

I've had one issue with my 108, when I was running it on 110v. The local rep. was clueless, so I contacted darTZeel directly. There, I learned that the 108 was designed to tolerate a max. of 130v. Anything more than that, it'll fry the internal fuses. And that's exactly what was happening, a couple of times a day.
Turned out voltage here in Brazil is actually 127v standard, fluctuating around 128-129, with peaks way above 130v. Of course, the 108 was none too happy about it, and was blowing fuses left and right.
So I just switched it to 220v via the internal switch, and replaced the fuses for the appropriate spec. for 220v, and now I haven't had a blown fuse since.
This 130v limitation still stands, since it's by design. All the components were selected based on a 130v max. tolerance, so darTZeel would need to revise the product in order to eliminate this limitation, and they'd rather not to do that...
What I can tell you is that the 108 plays much, much better in 220v!
The other folks around here with darTZeel gear had no problems so far...

Yes, so I heard :) But 220v isn't common here, so most amps arrive in 110v.
It might be common knowledge, but I didn't knew it! So once I realised that, and knew that the 108 wouldn't blow its fuses in 220v, it was a no brainer! Now even my digital is switched to 220v...

Can I assume you are running it on a 220V ac line (with the switch set at 220V) and not continuing to use the 110V outlet?

Yes, switched everything to 220v, on a properly-wired 220v outlet. That took some work, but it was worth it!

Thanks!

I thought about doing that and should have when I had new outlets installed.

IMO all amps sound better in 220V vs 110

A possible explanation might be that North American 220v is split-phase, i.e. balanced power with 2 110vac anti-phase legs. Those benefits specific to balanced/technical power, net cancellation of leakage currents would benefit any Class 3 component (those with safety grounds).

FWIW,
Paul

I have heard from FM Acoustics dealer that FMA can have similar issues in UK 240V vs 220-230V in Europe.

It seems Dartzeel is very reliable and you are not getting many answers. As your thread tittle was generic I will post some pictures of a serious system using DartZeel, even at the risk of making Mike Lavigne future MM7 system look small. ;)

HAH!!! I had to show my fiancee... Her first comment? "Does he have a wife?" ;) I think i can tell with all certainty i am never getting these speakers! ;) (I think if i can squeeze 2subs someday, that'll be just fine!...probably will have to justify them by saying 'look honey'...we just got a front view projector so we can watch movies as a family!)
