Rocco,
Since you have the 069, 808 and the 911s, can you kindly tell us how much improvement putting in the 808 will bring?

Hi.

Even the 069's is equipped with an excellent preamp section, inserting the 808's mk5 the improvement is huge in all regards.
Once listened with 808's you can't return back anymore ;)

Rocco,

Interesting. Have you spend considerable time comparing the 069 direct vs. with the 808? Could you let us know some detailed impressions as to the pro's and con's of both configurations?

Thanks alot!

Hi.

Before to purchase the 808's Mk5, after a side by side comparison with the 077's , I owned the 011's.

As I said before the 069's is equipped with an excellent pre-amp section that in my system sounded better than 011's; so It's easily intended that the 069 has a very great preamp.

When I compared (still now sometimes, just to joke, I set the variable output of 069's) the 069 direct vs. with the 808, the sounds presentation was different (at my ears clearly superior) mainly in timbre, spatiality and dynamic contrast. Using the 808's you can simply note easily that everything is at right place in all regards (perfect timbre and musicality, neutrality with complete absence of colorations, natural warmth, precision and clearness) with a soundstage and image well separated and realistic.

With the 808's the expression of music flowed by the 069's assumes the performance at highest level.

Did you compare the 011, a preamp I am intimately familiar with with the 077 and/or 808?. I did find the 011 very, very close to an 808, I don't remember which vantage might have been a MkII or III though...

Hi Frantz.

Yes, I compared these 3 preamps in two stages.

1) 011 vs 808 mk5: in my system the 011's has some areas is close to the 808 mk5, but the 808's has more resolution, clarity, refined, more extended and realistic at the top ends.

2) 077 vs 808 mk5: in my system both preamps are great and sound different; I prefer the magic sound of 808 Mk5.
