Almost all the cost is in the digital back ($40K) which Phase one has classically produced for other medium format cameras. It is truly the law of diminishing returns where some extra bit or resolution and fidelity costs an incredible amount of money especially when produced in such low volumes. The main reason to get it though is often because medium format cameras have better lenses than 35 mm systems and not as much for sensor resolution (other than bragging rights to a client paying high hourly rate).

For that kind of money it better take perfect pictures of hundred dollar bills.

A lot easier to come by than you think. High speed color copiers, Now how do you change those serial numbers?

Probably because I am more familiar with those cameras and have owned several Rolleis

Ok then.. What threw me off was "for that kind of money" ... I doubt that most amateurs even adbavnced one would find much use for this camera .. Phase One makes BACK for cameras. I don't know if their P65+ can be mounted on an Hasselblad ( I don't see why not) but the thing to keep in mind these are full frame no conversion required .. ... The top fo the Line Hasselblad, HD40, 40 Megapixels... has a sensor array more like a regular 24 x 36 (33.1 x 44.2 mm) .. whereas the sensor in the Phase One is really 6 x 4.5 This allow your lenses toi have the same field of view they have with medium format .. With the Hasselblad present format you have to use some conversion e.g an 80 mm is no longer a "normal" lens , rather a telephoto for their sensor ..
