DG Bluenotes go for bongo bucks. The opening bid was a mere one grand! Bet it went overseas too!

yup, those are legit prices for an early "47 West 63rd street" label, deep groove BN its also one of mobelys rarest. i've sold a well used VG copy of 1550 for 5 bills, that was a lot of yrs ago.

They do indeed, I'm lucky to own several of them. IMO, almost all of them sound superior to the re-issues on 45rpm etc. Pity they are not more
widely available and that as you say, they are snapped up by overseas Buyer's ( usually Asian) at high prices.
I wonder how many of them actually get played:confused:

Why would anyone pay that kind of money for an LP , any LP ..... !!!!!

Well, one reason is that its price always goes up. I sold 2 copies of the Sheffield LP 7 years ago for $30 each. Now, $400. :)

I can find many reasons why someone can pay a lot of money for a rare mint LP -but why paying hundreds for a CD? Aren't the bits all the same? Why should you pay up to ten times the price of the open package just because it is a sealed CD?

agreed. unless someone sees the value of the original packaging and liner notes of the sealed cd.

People who buy the MFSL of Sticky Fingers are going to be disappointed. It sucks. It sucks real bad.

Completely agree. However, the original (COC 59100) British pressings are worth the price.

Micro, whenever you look on ebay, there are always a bunch of jokers who are asking stupid prices for some MFSL piece or other. None of these pieces ever sells! I have to believe that the only reason these fools are doing this and presumably paying all of those ebay insertion fees, is some sort of advertising gimmick:confused:; or perhaps on the one chance in a thousand that some poor unsuspecting chap will fall prey. :(
Otherwise, I really don't get it.

If you can't find the Kodo LP, get the CD; it's one of my references and it will shock you, if your system can handle the big o-Daiko drum. Every time I play it, or anything with drum solo, my son starts crying out of fear.

Unfortunately this kind of mentality is what's killing audio, audiophiles are their own worst enemy , not going to pay 400 for a used semi worn LP, prefer to spend on multiple new titles from new artist's attempting to keep the music alive ...

Time to let it go ... :)
