Here's a picture of the VR-11 Mk2's front and back with our newly installed CIA 1600 watt amplifiers on each of the four 15" subwoofers. This pair will make it's debut appearance at the MOD DAC 2012 Show in the Raffles City Convention Centre, Singapore on August 25th and 26th.
My father Albert Von Schweikert will be in attendance with our distributor Audio Line so if you plan on going to the show, please stop by and give this system a listen.
We got an invite from Albert. Keith and I have some product lines we have been looking at to expand our lines. Good excuse to go to Singapore and see the Marina Bay Sands. Hehehehe.
Got to spend some time in this room for two days but was mostly playing hooky. Don't ask what happened at the Casino. LOL. That Light Harmonic Da Vinci DAC is sweeeeeeet. I want one.
I want 11s too but y'all knew that. Seeing that Dusty Vaughter is the new supplier of the subwoofer amps, was a pleasant surprise. CIAudio and VSA have some good history together. Bye Bye ICEpower, hello Hypex.
Got to spend some time with Eunice Kron too. It appears 200wpc KT-120 monoblocks will be joining the stable soon. I was surprised that two pairs of the parallel single ended T1610 amps at only 100wpc could drive the 11s so well albeit a third pair would have been better as one pair was pulling double duty by driving two sets of midbass drivers. Beautiful mids and highs.

Very articulate DAC. It was fed with a Mac Mini running puremusic. It had dimensionality all too rare with digital. Smooth without making things like brass sound like something else, good dynamics. Aside from the very well balanced sonics, I liked the connectivity options. It sounds a heck of a lot like my reference CD player but my player does not digital inputs.

I'm curious as to what happens when your ears get above or below the ribbon - as I assume it acts as a mini line source, with very little energy above and below the line itself. Any one have any experience with this or know the crossover points?
I don't know the exact crossover points but I do know it is very high. It's most probably above 10kHz or at leasts starts crossing in thereabouts. I've done the crouching thing and walk around a lot at my brother's place where he has the same speakers. The sound remains coherent whether kneeling or standing unlike my VR-9s which are half the speaker. There's a drop off in the highs when standing with the 9s. It's one of the reasons I want an 11 for myself. I walk around a lot. I also entertain in my music room which looks like a small club and is sometimes treated as such, dancing and all.
I don't think it's a line source, it's more like a concentric array.
