I had also auditioned an Ayre VX5-se
Still preferred the Pass X250.5 , although the Ayre had nicer mid, and top end, there was a lack of bass...

I just happened to get a chance to go from XA200.5 to XA200.8!
After initial run-in this surely is a fantastic upgrade.

Well, as previous posters have described: The 200.8 is somewhat more articulate in the upper and lower frequencies. Even though the sound was extremely delicate and articulated before, the new amplifiers excised the individual sounds to an even greater extent. I must admit that initially, it was almost too much of a good thing. However, after a fortnight of use I will contend that Pass has gotten the best of articulate, extremely detailed sound paired with their usual very coherent sound.
This is indeed a good amp!

As stated in another thread, I love my new INT-150. A few more inputs would be nice, but that's my only quibble.

What did the XP10 replace?

I wasn't using a pre, PSA Direct Stream to X250.8
The XP10 yielded much better bass, wider stage, a little less detail though .

That is interesting. I have read a few times where people say a 'regular' preamp sounds better than using the digital preamp functionality of a DAC.

Recently upgraded (at very little cost; thanks Mark!) my INT150 to a INT60. Well worth it, and like so many things I didn't notice what was "wrong" with the INT150 (well, nothing "wrong, really, just things that could be better) until it was superseded.
