Vibrational mechanics is a complex subject. I learned that you always have to look at the whole system. A product can only be good if its properties fit into the entire system. The parameters stiffness, damping and mass of the whole system result in the achieved effect. The stiffness is often not considered. When you combine several components, they add up the compliance. The result is a very compliant structure. The individual components can still be good, although the result of the combination can be unsatisfactory.
