There are kharma models i like more than another one in terms of overal coherence but resolution wise they are(were) on top of the game i think.
In terms of cabinet construction in for example the exquisite classic (as its now called ) i think kharma beats them all , and that increases resolution by a large margin in combination with a high resolving tweeter , but off course opinions differ .
I ll be hearing Q 3 s and S5 in couple off weeks time , also very interesting those cabinets , steel enforced aluminium in the Q 3 s .
I dont know why they are no longer imported in the US , i think asia was/is their main market .

Yes, Martin Colloms said the same thing a long time ago...noting that 1990's digital came thru as quite harsh thru X1s and that CJ equipment and turntables were a good match for the X1. That is essentially how i've got my system now. Zanden, CJ GAT to Gryphon Colosseum...perhaps that is why.
Nothing wrong with that. Every speaker needs the right front end to preform at its best. That choice is of course personal. I'm sure there are others that prefer an all solid state chain with your speakers. I would lean towards tubes personally.
I like tubes in my system as well. I have electrostats so I can't blame it on the tweeters.

This past Thursday I was in my local dealers store buying some records when Dan D'Agostino came in w/a Stereo Momemtum Amp. They hooked it up to a pair of $40,000 Zelleton Speakers. The top end sound was detailed but not bright. The bottom tight w/plenty of punch and yhe soundstage deep and wide. I've heard these speakers in the past and was not impressed until now. I got to talk w/Mr. D'Agistino and he showed me a picture of his new 2 channel preamp due out in a few months. It will have 6 inputs, 2 outputs, on the right are 2 tone controls and in the middle is the vloume control which is designed like the vu meters on his amps. It is all balanced connections. He also mentioned that he will be coming out w/a phono preamp and a digitatal music server down the road. a real treat to hear this amp.
I had heard about the preamp but not the phono stage or music server. I bet those will look cool. Wonder if he will do an analog display for the music server.
It seems that the new preamp has tone controls. As far as I know its the only really high end pre with tone controls? My Accuphase c2400 has it and McIntosh c2300 as well. But both Accuphase and McIntosh skip the tone controls on their top of the line products. I really like my controls and use them often. Not much but a little touch on them can make small wonders. And they can be disconnected.
