Johnny Hartman and Ian Gillan

Huge Purple fan, IMHO Ian is THEE voice of Deep Purple, all the others cant hang. Made In Japan, one of those magical moment in live music. MK II all the way!

Geoff Tate Queensrych has tremendous range, covers many octaves well.

Does Elvis hold no water with you guys for one reason or another, no mention of him yet.
The guy had a pretty magical voice, personal antics aside, he was gifted.

A couple of my “classic” favorites:

Boston’s Brad Delp (RIP) - Amazing range, tone and power.
Jim Croce (RIP) - The man could say more in a 2.5 minute song than most can say in an entire album.

Some more “current” favorites:

Sean Rowe - great baritone voice and thoughtful song writing.

Shawn Mullins - another great baritone (thanks @treitz3 for turning me on to him!)

Gregory Alan Isakov - just a great voice…

This is really tough! The question is favorite male singer , singular, so I'll keep it as low as possible.

Non classical, Marvin Gaye, just about. There is a documentary of him in Belgium (I think it was, might have been Holland) where he is singing acapella in church. Always brings tears to my eyes.
I say "just about" because FOR ME there are a few others that run him close.

For classical, especially lieder, Peter Schreier. Try this link for heartbreaking.
