I had a chance to hear the tube MC 2301, took a good 45 minutes to get cook'n.

How do you think would compare in a shoot out with the MC 501?

My JanZen loudspeaker review:

Should I go back and ask to hear the MC 501's?

Would there be that much of a difference?

I would definately go back to hear the MC 501. I would bet the 2301 sounds better overall, but there's only one real way to find out.

I strongly prefer the MC501s. IMO more transparent and image better. I have heard them in the same system. I like ARC tube amps but could never warm to the MC2301.
