Rocco,
Only to those we do not have experience with great tube sound of high quality. Although I do not know what means "a realistic sound" I can risk saying that the most realistic sound I have ever listened reproducing acoustic music was from tubes.
But I never listened to a great Burmester system - I will do it as soon as I can!![]()
Hi,
about the experience is not my case. In the years, around the globe, I listened in very known situations (acustical and electrical) the most important brands of tube gears. I spent years ago, 11 months in Japan for my work concerns (I'm not in audio business, but I'm only mainly a music lover and then I love the most realistic correct and sound reproduction) and at least once/twice a weak I listened for all period all Japan Tube Brands with their top components carefully settled with the most attention to details.
For my listening experience with live-music and especially at my ears the sound expression from tubes is well recognized and It's far from the "true concept of neutrality" as I intend with no colorations and euphonic sweetings. Of course this is my point of view according my experience. No any intention that my concept should pass for an absolute!
P.S.: About the Burmester sound, my personal reference nowdays. I wish you to listen soon "a whole reference system"![]()
...Surely will be an amazing experience.

My experience with tubes is similar to yours. I have been a tube fan for a while .. It slowly became clear to to me however, that SS were as good and in many instances superior to Tubes... Call it a look backwards because in these days (early 90's) I looked at SS with an amount of condescension.I continued to favor tubes but the more I listened to the best electronics be they tubes or SS the more I became convinced that the gap has been bridged and that SS were the way to go if one value neutrality and a removal of colorations ...
So far Burmester remains my reference. I do however have great respect for Spectral, Edge, Dart Tzeel and Plinius ...and a few others particular gear (Bryston 28B monos for example) ..
On this one brand I have never heard mentioned in this forum is Edge ..Crazy good..Crazy impressive if you ask me.. Fully in the league of electronics I mentioned. Amongst the best electronics I have heard.

I'm sooooo happy for you, Joe. You'll be even happier with the amps when they get more run in as Gary mentioned. My xperience with the amps is exactly like Gary's. They do get better and better and hopefully, like Gary says, there'll be a quantum leap after about 1,000 hours.
We are very lucky to have this level of gear. I hope to add a Burmester source component, 111 or cd player.

I wonder what it is about the design of Burmester gear that makes them so special? I see we have a mini-cult following happening here on WBF so this gear is obviously striking a chord.

Chord is nice too....But Burmester it ain't.
Burmester is the real deal, with real Class in its products and from its owners.
They have that special 'touch', 'cachet', 'respectable humanity', 'valor', musical quality.
