It's not quite fair comparing American with any other beers given the ROH content :) A few European beers are as high as 9-10% alcohol. And in fact, one hasn't had real UK beer until one has gone to the UK. They ship their crap over here :(

That said like Pilsner Urquel and Anchor Steam. Molsons as made in Canada with its higher ROH levels is far better than the beer sold here. There are a lot of smaller beers that run across whose names escape me at the moment. (and not because of drinking :) )

That's why we invented the "boilermaker."

I've been moving for the last 2 days from one apartment to another on the same floor in my building. Unfortunately, I don't have any assistance to move the really heavy stuff and those things that require 2 or more poeple. Anyway, I'm exhausted and taking a break with a cold one.

My beer of choice today is Molson Canadian.

I've read great things about #2. I'm a wheat beer fan, so I would like to try both of these.

Used to drink Hacker Pschorr years ago. Indeed it's good!

Okay, now you guys have done it -- you've whetted my appetite for wheat beer.

Here are the ones I am interested in and which are available at my local Bevmo.

Please elaborate if you've tried any of these....

Schneider Weisse Hefe-Weizenbier

Paulaner Hefe-weizen

Hacker Pschorr Weiss Beer

Welhenstephan Weiss Beer

And how do they compare to something like Pyramid Hefeweizen?

Love what the independants are doing with beer. Like wine they're introducing different fruits and spices, which is not only a great "taste" idea, but a wonderful marketing tool as well. I see more and women drinking beer, or at least trying it, and that can't be a bad thing.

Having been raised in W Berlin and my coming from the Munich area, guess what I grew up drinking?
As a kid I first started with a "Weisse mit einem schuss".
This translated means a Wheat beer with a shot of fruit syrop. As a 8-10 year old this was the best .
The beers that I have tried that fit into the wheat beer category are,

Berliner Kindl Weisse
Schultheiss
Ayinger
Schneider Wiesse
Koenig Ludwig Weissbier
Spaten Hefeweizen
Pauleaner Hefe Weizen
Wittekerke
Hoegaarden
Blue Moon
Widmer
Pyramid Wheat
Okanagan Wheat
Granville Island Hefeweizen
Victoria Weizen
Liplock Summer Wheat
Pyramid Wheat
Yaletown Brewery Wheat beer

If I had to rate the Pyramid On a scale of 1-10, 10 being The BEST, I would give it a 5.
Try the Hacker or the Ayinger much better IMHO.

The flavored wheat beers that I enjoy are the Mort Subite, both the Cherry and the Raspberry.
These are very similar to the beer that I grew up with in Berlin as kid.

Take care and Prost !

Went to Bevmo yesterday and purchased five bottles of wheat beer;

Ayinger

Hacker Pschorr

Welhenstephan Weiss

Paulaner

Schneider Weiss

Not sure if I want to have a shoot-out type of taste-off or just enjoy each one on a separate occasion.

I lean towards just enjoying each one on a separate occasion.

A few summers ago, I had the pleasure of drinking Guinness in the pub at the top of the brewery in Ireland. I've been a big fan ever since.

It has never tasted as good as it did right there at the brewery looking out of the plate glass windows at Dublin, but it is always damn good.

No kidding. The announcement I just saw (and can't find) sure persuaded me it was A New Thing. Comes in a container with Miles/Bitches Brew artwork encasing it. Same thing?
