At another thread, we were discussing the low light capabilities of cameras. My daughter has a Canon IXUS 310 HS which has a "Low Light" setting that combines 4 pixels together (it's normally a 12MP point-and-shoot) to derive a very good 4MP picture at ASA 2500 (at least comparable to the older DSLRs).
The advantage of a point-and-shoot for concert photography is that it can be absolutely silent (not even a mirror flip). Here's a crop at full size with no Photoshop enhancement of Geoffrey Keezer in concert that she took.
