If you like Bourbon (i am a big whisky fan in general)...try the Sazerac 18-yr Rye Whisky. Stunning.

...aaaaand, i just finished the last drop...;) when i saw bourbon, i thought...that's a great idea! Go for the Sazerac 18-year. I went over to my little whisky collection...and finished the final drops.

in truth, i am an islay man...just picked up 2 bottles of Springbank 21-year which (i am told) are largely sold out or nearly sold out, as there were only 1540 bottles worldwide. In my top 5 whiskys that i have ever had...the others being the Macallan 30-year, Springbank 35-yr, Glenfiddich '77. The list isn't even 5, as i equate these as one category and then it drops down to: Springbank 18-year '08 batch, St. Magdalene 26-yr, Ardberg Supernova, Ardberg '78, Sazerac 18-year, Glenrothes 85, Lagavulin 16 and Macallan 18-yr.

i own pretty much all of these, and enjoy each and every one. Helps when the Whisky Shop with a few hundred different bottles is 15 minutes walk away!!!

I really like a good rye and maker's as well. Maybe in a little while I will make me a nice Manhattan stirred not shaken.

It just sounded like you were desribing single-malt scotches to me.

Yes, pretty much. Its just that everyone here just calls it single malt whisky.

Calling scotch *whiskey* might get your ass kicked in Kentucky.

;) Probably. In truth i believe whisky is the larger family name which includes single malts, bourbons, rye whisky, blends, the Japanese whiskys like Yoichi (the 10-yr is very good), and the Irish whiskys (like Midleton). At least, that is how it is defined in the Jim Murray Malt Whisky Bible (and in Michael Jackson's Whisky Bible).

I believe Bourbon is considered (like peating) a form of treating the whisky. Sherry casking basically...oh and corn is used as well.

Hi...i believe Jim Murray (Jim Murray's Whisky Bible) thought quite highly of the Madeira Penderyn special edition. Which one do you recommend? Enjoy!

This is the first Penderyn I have tried so far, a Madeyra Special Edition Gold, the best single malt I have tried Lloyd, no doubt.

That is the one Jim Murray awarded. Good to know. May try to find it here and give it a try. I am fortunate to have a nice little collection which i enjoy. Enjoy it!!!
