Near Atlanta, GA but not too near!
My goal is to ultimately replace my two channel preamp (TacT) and my SSP (Integra 80.2) and combine them into a high end SSP. The two on my radar screen are the not yet available Lexicon and the not yet available AP20. Technology aside, my leaning is toward the Lexicon because I am concerned about a new company (with a nice history in the commercial market) trying to be successful in a very small consumer niche market in a crappy economy. I have owned enough boat anchors since I have been in this hobby and have no interest in acquiring any more. But, that said, I am still very interested in the AP20.

I heard the post processing of the Lexicon at CEDIA and was blown away. But that may or may not be important to me since, in order to take advantage of it's capabilities, I would need to add more speakers (heights, wides, etc) and I'm not sure I'm inclined to do that.

What I am most interested in is its room correction approach. Does anyone know anything about it (Amir?). Will it be whatever is currently used in the existing Lexicon SSP? Any details?

Yes, I know fair bit about it as for substantial part, it is based on what is in our current JBL Synthesis. I don't know what is used in the current Lexicon but I suspect it is nowhere near what will be in the new processor.

One of the key things for room EQ is to correct low frequency response in the room. The Lexicon MP-20 supports 4 subs which it then optimizes using Soundfield Management (SFM) to correct relative to smoothest response and least seat to seat variation. They have a patent on this so likely this aspect won't be duplicated by others.

The second part is ARCOS. This is an equalization process which shapes the response of the subs, and satellite speakers individually and then collectively. I will be writing a detailed article on this but to give you a sense of how ARCOS works, this is a screen snapshot of it correcting one channel:

Harman does not disclose how they perform the correction. As you may know, the right solution is not to blindly invert the response. Special care is taken on the filter position and response for every deviation.
