Finally got in the first two (of six) much anticipated Steve Hoffman Nat King Cole transfers. The first two releases are Love is the Thing and The Very Thought of You. Will be interesting to compare the AP reissues to Steve's earlier efforts with DCC.

Turns out that the AP 45 rpm is the "purest" form of the recordings. (Steve also talked about this at CES this year.) Steve and Kevin went directly from the 3 track master to the cutting lathe bypassing the two track mixdown tapes. In addition, Steve and Chad chose to reduce the added reverb--that was the thing to do in its day at Capitol and many other labels. So one hears more of his voice and less as on the original, his voice swimming in echo.
