Here's the first (as far as I know) Blu-ray release from the Cleveland Orchestra under Pierre Boulez playing Mahler:

As some here know, I grew up in Cleveland and saw the orchestra over a hundred times, beginning with the Szell era through to Von Dohnanyi. Here, Boulez guest-conducts as part of his 85th birthday celebration.

That's a shame. Severance Hall is a great venue. I've said in the past that multi-channel recording carries its own learning curve.

The sound is actually pretty good but suffers in comparison to a nearly simultaneous release of the Mahler on SACD. The Boulez BD is clean and balanced but, despite a not-too-close perspective, fails to provide enough soundstage breadth and ambience for me. So, given your connections to the place, do not let me deter you from the disc. All the technical quallities in the world cannot make up for an emotional connection.
