    Japanese Girls Swing Band

“Audio as a hobby is dying, largely by its own hand. As far as the real world is concerned, high-end audio lost its credibility during the 1980s, when it flatly refused to submit to the kind of basic honesty controls (double-blind testing, for example) that had legitimized every other serious scientific endeavor since Pascal. [This refusal] is a source of endless derisive amusement among rational people and of perpetual embarrassment for me” - Gordon Holt

The movie is a comedy called Swing Girls. There is a lot of info on the web available for it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swing_Girls

Finding a place to buy it through seems challenging as Amazon doesn't sell it anymore. Searching, landed on an expensive by for the BD version: http://www.dvdasian.com/_e/Japan/pro...s_Blu_Ray_.htm

I am sure there are more reasonable places to find it.

Here is a free sample: http://www.mysoju.com/japanese-movie...-movie/part-1/

Seems like a cute movie and quintessential Japanese.

While that was nice, it just doesn't compare to Benny Goodman's rendition.

If the history is right, the band did not know how to play any of this! They were actors and over a 5 month period were taught to play like this!

    From the wiki:

"Many of the girls really could not play these instruments[1] , and they did play the performances in the film, after training for only 5 months[2]. To prove this was not movie-magic, a tour was organized after the film with a live CD released shortly after.[3]"
