I know...isn't this a great learning tool?! I recently acquired some tapes that were EQ'd for vinyl processing -- as I comprehend it: bass summed into mono and perhaps, modulated so it can be tracked by a cart AND highs emphasized because these are lost in the vinyl production process.

Now, I'm looking into getting a great parametric EQ -- Massenburg 8200, so I can listen to the EQ'd tapes on my home rig.

I used to use Massenburg's parametric EQ's and compressors in the recording studio at McGill University years ago. Nice equipment. He is now teaching sound recording there full-time, so I suspect they have his latest gear.

Very cool, Sean  I've seen images of a room attributed to his design at Blackbird Studio in Nashville -- wild!

Or, when the software is compiled include a "manifest" file that specifies the program must be run with administrator credentials. This is compatible with Vista / Win7 UserAccessControl methodology. However, admin privs should never be needed to run a regular program, so that's not really a good fix anyway- A lot of this mess is more due to Vista / Win7 security than anything else. My opinion, have the music files themselves save to the "My Music" directory (or sub directory under that). Then nothing admin is required. The security issue noted above with 'Program Files' or 'Program Files (x86) directories is indeed correct, and also applies to Server 2008.

BTW- very cool app, thank you for taking the time to create / publish / share.

Sadly, the audio industry has no standardized terminology that allows musicians, audio engineers and audiophiles to communicate with each other about sound quality in a concise and meaningful way.

There is a language. Making it standard between the two armed camps is like trying to get Glen Beck to define socialism.

works for me

The link works for me as well (and I control the site)... stay tuned.

Some good news: We are discussing moving this listener training application to our corporate web site with links to brands, and update the software and provide better support for users. It seems that there is enough critical mass and interest in the training application both externally and internally to put some more effort and money into it.

It's being used quite a bit in universities that teach audio/sound recording, audio retailers, and I'm told even Apple and Dolby uses it to train audio engineers. I have noticed the latest Apple earbuds that came with my Iphone 5 sound better than previous generations ??? :)

It's nice that people are still interested in becoming better critical listeners.

Worked for me as well. Thank you Sean!

I need all the help I can get, so it'll be fun to go through the various stages.
