Ok good. The PC input is a legacy USB input for 44kHz and 48kHz audio streams. The Software input is the one to use for updating the firmware. Then once you have updated, you can use the USB-X connected to the Auxilliary input on the MPS-5. Good luck.

Many thanks once more.

Hi all, thanks for all your help, I successfully connected the USB-X today and I am really touching when I saw the 384 displayed on the machine. However, the installation is still not that smooth even I correctly plug the software USB port, seems the PDsetup utility is not compatible with Win7 64 and my PC could not connected to the playback. The problem is solved after I switched to use another PC with WinXP.

Besides, could anyone knows where could I buy/download some 384files to try, thank you so much in advance. Cheers!

Try: www.2l.no

Go to the upper right corner of the home page, and choose "test bench" from the drop down menu. They will show you how to "log in" to download the files there. The files are DXD 24/352.8, as well as other resolutions.

I believe Blue Coast also has some DSD files available. Their recordings are very good.

hi res downloads

Blue Coast Records has additional DSD downloads at http://downloadsnow.net. Their recordings are very good.

You can also find DXD downloads at www.highresaudio.com.

JRiver native DSD playback

Feedback from JRiver is they may offer native DSD playback using ASIO on a PC.

JRiver now has native DSD playback

JRiver MC17 now has native DSD playback without converting to PCM on the PC. Uses the Playback Designs ASIO driver. :)
