Hello,
I am a new member here and am really impressed with all of the information available on the website. This is my first post and it concerns making repairs to Magnepan 20.1s. I believe I am the second owner and the speakers are perhaps 15-18 years old. One of the speakers has developed a buzz at about 200hz and below. I know this because my Oppo 105 has a subwoofer output that cuts the bass input to the speakers at various crossover points. The buzz only shows up at about 200hz. I have checked with Magnepan, which recommends sending both speakers in to be upgraded to 20.7 components. The cost is close to $5k with shipping. I am willing to do that but wondering about other alternatives, such as finding someone beside Magnepan to fix the buzz or adding subwoofers and cutting the bass input to the 20.1's at 200hz. I am in the San Francisco Bay Area so finding someone on the left coast to make repairs would be great. And if there are suggestions on best matching subwoofers that would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Davidj

I've never heard of local companies fixing Maggies. Also, I understand that going from 20.1 to 20.7 is a pretty massive upgrade.
