Do these designs really work?

Saw these speakers at CES 2011 at ModWrite booth:



Why would someone suspend a speaker on a thin piece of wood? I touched it and it sure was resonating with the sound. If this form over function?

You would certainly think so Amir, seems like another 'new' idea just for the sack of it.
What was your impression of the modright preamp and power amp? I'm told they sound pretty good. Have you had any experiances with Modwright? I was thinking of having them mod my Oppo 83SE Nuforce edition.

Sorry, I was so disturbed by the speaker designs I didn't pay much attention to what was playing :).
