We are in Vienna in advance of our trip to Munich for the show. So, yesterday afternoon we attended a concert of the Vienna Philharmonic at Musikverein where we heard Leonard Bernstein’s Symphony #1 and Mahler’s Symphony #5. No pictures or video can properly prepare you for the magnificence of this venue. My wife and I entered together and the visual experience was breathtaking. The Vienna Philharmonic lived up to their reputation and then some. Our seats were on the left side of the orchestra at the top in the very first section. When we found our seats we realized that we could not see all of the performers, just a few of the violins, French horns on the opposite side of the stage. We were very concerned that we would not be able to hear the performance. Wrong! The venue lived up to it’s reputation and then some too. We could hear everything just fine. What an experience. I think our Dallas Symphony orchestra and our concert hall are wonderful. The Vienna Philharmonic at Musikverein is just another level. Unforgettable as a bucket list item should be.

Nice, I want to visit the Vienna hall myself. Will do so this summer, hopefully.
