On the recommendations of members here on WBF, I ordered a couple of tapes from UltraAnalog Recordings (Ed Pong's company).
I must say that I'm not really a fan of classical music and can't comment on the technicalities of these performances, but the music itself is extremely enjoyable. I find myself just pressing play and sitting back and being drawn into every minute of it.
The Beethoven Violin Sonata 1 & Brahms has become a reference tape for me, I especially enjoy the Brahms dances. The recording is unbelievably transparent, I would say it sets a new standard for clarity and naturalness. The dynamic contrast of the piano and violin is to die for. This is the next best thing to the actual event, I can imagine these musicians playing in front of me.
Ed mentions that the new tapes he has coming out is just as good or better, I'm wondering how much better it can get.
