Speakers - is spikes/hard coupling to the floor the only way?

I ask because some years ago I dispensed w the stock screw-in spikes on my Zus and went to Symposium Rollerblocks on Svelte Shelves decoupling, and after a little acclimatisation I felt this move was wholly positive, and haven’t looked back, w the occasional a/b back w the original spikes not convincing me enough to return.
And now I have the opportunity to go The Full Monty mounting my Zus on mass loading/CLD/pneumatic isolating Stacore Advanced platforms.
However a friend here on WBF who is no fool when it comes to these matters, is adamant that fixed spikes are the only way to go, any other decoupling leads to resonant frequencies and maybe even a skewing of sound balance.
For him, speakers to ground starts and ends w spikes.
