I am using the ASCENDO speakers the top of their line the M5SE with external crossover its a band pass speaker and beautiful sound incl. bass

....... I am sure Vitus, Symphonic Line, Dartzeel, Berning Quads, Dagostino, CH, AR REf 250SE, FM Acoustics, would easily beat the Aelius. The Ypsilon lacks drive and bass.....

and I am more sure if my grandma had a propeller would be a fisher boat..

I am sure Vitus, Symphonic Line, Dartzeel, Berning Quads, Dagostino, CH, AR REf 250SE, FM Acoustics, would easily beat the Aelius.

We have the new Vitus MP201 MkIII phono in bound - hopefully 5 weeks out. We tried a friend‘s Ypsilon and Boulder 2008. In our system we choose the Vitus. The system synergy and sound was just an excellent match…. Of course others may have different experiences with other phono pres.

Hello Jasbirnandra, I also have the Ascendo System MS MKII (SE wasn't out when I bought mine) and in case you did not know, Ascendo used to use CAT amps as their reference amps and CAT used the Ascendo MS as their reference speakers. I am currently also using CAT power and preamp. Ascendo now offer an active version as well. Could be worth contacting Ascendo for amp recommendations....Stefan is very helpful. Best of luck.
