Who are the contenders for the BEST SET Amps for $15K or less?

Caesar, I'm going to have to toot my own horn here and recommend MastersounD at that price point. Their TOTL integrated, the Evolution 845 now retails for just above that mark at $18k, but everything else falls well under $15k. The separates are obviously more.

I honestly don't know at this time, but I'm jonesing to play around with high efficiency stuff in my 4th system. There is something about how that type of technologies just grabs one's emotions rather than "sheds light on the audiophile vocabulary".
Caeser, I can give you a few examples of some rather different pairings in my neighbourhood - 1.5wpc mega spec diy 45 amps with AG Duo Omega (Blue58), Mastersound pse 845 reference with Loth-X Minstrel (Audiophile Bill) and Kondo Ongaku with Voxativ Ampeggio Due field coils. I personally have owned Border Patrol P20EXD and Audio Mirror 6C33 monos, both extensively upgraded.
My advice to you given that this is a 4th system and you are dipping your toes into the SET water, would be to get a cheapish 845 amp (either used or something like Line Magnetic 219 or even their 805 based 508ia) and some moderately sensitive speakers like Devore / Heco Direkt and have a bit of fun tube rolling etc. Perhaps leave the 300b / 45 / 2A3 amps unless you intend to get speakers of over 100db sensitivity, given that most speakers sound their best with a healthy excess of current.

I think the zanden 7000 set is quite a good amp on the right speakers

Caesar, I’ve gotten good results w my 101dB eff Zus in an 800sq ft room w 35W Audion Black Shadow 845s, and stellar results in two different 800sw ft rooms w 70W NAT SE2SE 211s.
