Living voice ones , Pretty big , but you can stack them , anyway a passive sub matching a 105 db speaker is gonna be a bit large , I suggest you go with the same manufacturer .
If you go active there are a lot smaller possibilities , but if they sound the best / integrate the best hmm not sure

Yes when you listen you do think I need to enforce the bass a bit, but also, what on Earth are you going to find that will get close to the transparency and speed of the main speakers...

I think it would be a good match if I were to do it my way , but also big and costly, its not only paperunits that can move fast / with or without horn imo

Ps if i were to make a passive sub for a 87 -88 db 2 way i need only a single sub

There is nothing out there that will keep up with GR-Reseach's OB servo subs, with the amp modded by me. People have replaced JL subs with them, etc.

Please elaborate

A particular horns company I’m interested in is talking about 15” OB subs, and variant on tapped horns principle.

Can anyone recommend, or is there such a thing, as a subwoofer (or pair of subs) that can keep up with the lightening fast bass of big horns?

I don’t need anything too subsonic, just to fill the 30-60hz range, my speakers tail off quickly below 45hz.

Budget - pretty flexible but in or around the $15k ballpark and I’m happy to buy ex dem or mint used. Thanks in advance.

Something like this?

Cheers Bonzo, is that the Wam or PFM?

He should be on both, he also runs a thread on art of sound. I have heard the horns and tapped horns that go well below 20 and which he can make to any room/look design. He is quite good and low cost.

Hi Tim

Any tips on getting the best out of the bass performance of your Scouts?

I haven't invested any time yet because I also have several other speakers that don't require too much attention to sound full range as they are...
But the Air Scouts DO have very big potential.

If they were my only speakers, I think I would have tried tapped horns but due to my other speakers, I just can't be arsed.
But I would really love to read from your success in this matter

I think what I will do is refer you to this recent topic. Note several people in the thread havd owned slews of things from cheap to expenisve. Tyson thinks they are best, and he did a bunch of years reviewing RMAF, along with Pez, and they fought with manufacturers over their reviews till the point they all started bringing room treatment (ya, they started that). Danny has won best of show several times, all using his servo subwoofer OB setups. That thread is only the begining of the praise they have had. His speakers some like, some dont, but the subs dont have that boundary.

And a blurp about the mods I do.

You might look for some TAD subs, though probably rare in Europe. Excellent woofers and the 18 inch can be purchased for a custom design. TCS 3415 and TCS 1118 SW TL1801 TAD woofers are very fast.
