Maybe you should buy your fantastic Toyota Camry first and then start fantasizing about the 85" 8k display. ;)

Great, means 4k OLEDs will be getting a lot cheaper.

With need bigger TVs, we need more pixels, we need bigger bank accounts, we need more bitcoins.

We don't need big dreams, we are witnessing them every single day.
8K is a dream coming thru.
16K will equal reality, what we see with our eyes in real life.
Then, anything beyond that point is for aliens' eyes...higher than reality...unobtainable.
Unless, that man can operate surgery and improve vision beyond the surreal of the fifth dimension.
If we live another billion years I bet we can do it.

:)

LG has one too:

And Vincent was truly impressed by that ultimatum Sony one:

Because only the best ...

"Last but not least there’s a mouth-watering treat in store for fans of Stanley Kubrick’s timeless classic, “2001: A Space Odyssey”, which will be upscaled to 8K and broadcast on BS8K’s launch night."

November 20th, on 4K Blu-ray. It is actually in stores right now; there was some "shaky ground" with this particular title: '2001: A Space Odyssey'

Is it really preferable for movies to look like real life?

Does anyone know what resolution level (4K, 8K, 16K?) would equal the resolution of 35mm film? Larry

"It is estimated that 35mm film has a digital resolution equivalent to 4K: 35mm Imax film equates to 6K, while 70mm Imax is closer to 12K. Regardless of how they are shot, most films will be converted into a digital format for editing, colour grading and VFX (called digital intermediate and usually at 2K resolution). While some films are scaled back up to a digital or film print for distribution, even Imax projection systems are not capable of playing back higher than 4K."
