Does having a headphone amp in your high-end DAC compromise sound quality?

Is having the extra circuitry harmful to good sound?

I would say generally no. As long as the power supply is sufficient, no effect. Headphone amps in DACs are notoriously poor though. I would recommend a separate headamp if you want to use headphones.
