Mike, any updated impressions of the vdh Colibri signature?
Dear Mike,
Would you please describe the tone of VdH in comparison to GFS. Which one has more treble in tone and extension in high. Does the VdH has a strong mid to low tone like Whiney Houston voice?
Kind regards,
Tang
Wow Mike if it can beat your GFS on orchestral that's quite amazing. So it fills up all the details in the mid and the Midbass?
too early to say how the slight refinement and liquidity nod to the GFS over the vdH Strad Stat will play out, but tonally the two are quite close. i'd say equal in detail, with a bit more top end air, space and slam from the vdH. maybe if they were not in the same system and phono it might be hard to hear the difference in those things. the GFS will be more the universal player and happy in more situations. the vdH will challenge arms and phono stages to be more perfect.
but the upside to both is similar.
Today I received the confirmation that the shipment with my Colibri Signature Stradivarius has gone out to me. I am so much looking forward to this new little hummingbird.
Already so far my "normal" 0.26mV Colibri XGW was an extremely pleasing cartridge, running in an SME 312s. And although I wouldn't want to go so far as to call any of the cartridges of my current lineup "the best" because they all have their specific strenghts and weaknesses the Colibri XGW has definitely been extremely pleasing in what it does. Well, now it makes a friend of mine happy and I cannot wait to get the Signature up and running instead.
Cheers, Byrd!i received my Colibri strad 0.38 two weeks ago (evan open a thread for myself in the cartridge forum - but with no interest)
it an amazing cart and it doesn't even broke in yet.
i am playing it on a Thales Simplicity II, its sound awesome!
hope you will be glad with yours, congrats!
Cheers, Byrd!
I'm quite sure you are enjoying the XGP Koa Stradivarius now and will enjoy it more and more the further it breaks in. What I heard from someone who had both, the differences between the XGP Koa and the XGP Blackwood are not this significant. And as I wrote above: I really, really liked my Blackwood so I have a fairly good idea what you are enjoying right now.
Please tell me how Zyx compares to Sumile on classical.
