We saw "Darkest Hour" this afternoon. The film probably made its way to the top of my list for 2017 thus far. Beautiful cinematography and superb acting by Gary Oldman as Churchill. The film covers about a two week period in May of 1940 when the not popular Churchill becomes Englands Prime Minister. The German Army has taken over Belgium, the Netherlands and is poised to do the same in France. The British Army has been pushed back to Dunkirk and Calais and some want England to seek a peace treaty with Germany. A lot of applause at the end of the film.

Sad to say I nodded off in the middle of this one. While Oldman was great, the third act saved the day for the film in particular the train scene.

Hint to others - there is zero action in this film. All talking despite the subject material.
