Congratulations on the new tape machine, Christian!

Please let us know if you perform any direct comparisons with the UHA.

The UHA sounds better in every way. That said...the Stella holds it's own....better sounding than a stock Studer A810. I bought a bunch of 600', 5" reel tape to use it w/o the 10.5" reel adaptor contraption. The measured wow and flutter for the 10.5" reel adapter setup was .04%. Not bad for a portable machine that can run on rechargeable AA's. Max recording time at 15 ips is 8 minutes for the 5", 600' tape reels. I can make up some nice sampler demo mix tapes for on the go tape listening pleasure. This is not a tape deck for everyday use (workhorse). It is very cool and sounds much better than the Nagra 4S stock and this one has modded repro electronics (cello circuit treatment).

Dear Tang,

I owned a 'T' for about 6 months in 2011. it is quite the beautiful piece. but I would caution you that getting parts and repairs is a real challenge so be careful; and stock it's not a great performer. a clean ATR-102 or another A-820 are both better performing and more reliable choices. but the 'T' is a very sexy thing.

best regards,

Mike

There is something wrong with my Studer headout at the moment and even this I already have difficulty getting it fix in Bangkok. So, I do understand your gentle tab on my shoulder, Mike.

Thanks,
Tang
