Elon Musk's net worth is only $20 billion (one fifth Jeff Bezos @ roughly $100 billion USD).
He needs cash to develop his ideas, rocket fuel for his Mars taxi cab, Tesla Model 3, batteries, solar panels, etc.
He can keep on asking money from people like us, future Tesla customers, with our orders and cash deposits.
He can also ask Jeff for a loan, or the banks. I highly doubt that he would pick that option though.
He can also invest in bitcoin, and see what happens in August 2018. If the value is not as good as he would have dreamed, he can sell more Tesla shares.

No matter what he decides, 2018 is going to be year of our lives.
