After many years of enjoying a piece of gear, I have decided to have a new relationship!

Some of you may know that I have used and enjoyed the Rowland model 8 for decades. Last year, I had Jeff modify this amp and bring it up to the last and best spec. The amp came back to me and was certainly better in the resolution department and in its ability to plumb the depths. I figured I would keep this amp forever.

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to acquire an amp that was high on my want list, but very hard to source in great condition...the ARC D70Mk2. This tube amp changed my perspective of amps...and wowed me with its tube midrange purity and bass slam!

So last week when an opportunity presented itself, I found myself the new owner of an amp that I thought I would not be able to acquire....

The new amp, still to come, is the Jadis JA 30Mk2...the latest in a long line of Jadis amps that are hand made in France. This amp utilizes the new KT150's and will replace my Jeff Rowland!

I'm a little nervous about breaking up my relationship with my old love, but I think the new girl in town should be a nice change for me....

Congrats. I bet that is one sweet sounding amp. Keep the Rowland for when you want to change things up for a while or back up. I still have a Mark Levinson No. 27.5 sitting in storage

Thanks guys. I'm pretty excited, as I have not owned mono blocks before. Should be interesting to see how they compare to the ss amp and the vintage ARC.

congrats Davey, on your new love.

I've had a man-crush on the more modestly powered amps in the Jadis line-up forever, so I get where you are coming from.

enjoy.

Thanks Mike. Before the current line up, i would have thought twice about Jadis, but the new models are so much better. I think the JA 30 Mk2 is the sweet spot in Jadis's amp line up.

Hi DaveyF,

If my memory is correct, you have a pair of SF Guarneri. There are a number of audiophiles here who love matching the Jadis 30 with SF Guarneri speakers.

I heard these are the best of the Jadis. So if they can drive your speakers, they will be real winners

That is exactly what I was thinking...that combination should be insanely magical. Congrats, DaveyF!

I had in the past Jadis 30. 80. 200. 500
500 too many valves and sound little dark and slow but other 3 I think around the 3/4 best tube amp
The best, for me ,is Jadis 80 with new kt 120 or 150
Pure sound with enough power
I had in 1982 ARC D 250 MKII Servo
And I had at home Jadis 80 to test
Much better in everything

Congratulations, Davey. I have fond memories of my Jadis 200s. But the sweetest sounding I have heard was the JA30 on a pair of Spica TC 50s. I believe it will do well with a lot of speakers that is efficient for its 30 watts output.

The JA30s on Raffy O's stacked quads are indeed magic. I'd love to hear the Mk2. Congratulations Davey!

Thanks guys. I do hope that these will play nice with my S.F. GH’s. The JA 30 mk 2’s are the revised version of the JA30.The new amp features the KT150’s, larger transformers, bigger caps, and puts out 45 Watts/ch in pure class A. The older amp was able to put out 30 Watts/ch, which I think may have been a little too shy for my speakers.

These have the silver faceplates and silver tranny tops, which I like a lot better than the gold.
