Dear Tango,

Please forgive me if you have posted about this previously, and I simply have not found it. How do you compare the Opus to the Coralstone and to be ZYX UNIverse Premium?

i cant compare Ron. I only have Opus, Atlas SL and a short time GFS like Gian. But I dont have Coralstone and Zyx. Gian knows I want Coralstone so he likes to tease me with his baby.

kind regards,
Tang

Dear Ron,
the high of Opus are little more detailed and go little higher in frequency.
Coralstone is more magic and natural on mid and voices
If one have system with detail,Coralstone is perfect,if one system is little dark Coralstone is not the good match

Hello Gian,

Kind regards,
Tang

Gian,

I put Kedar's ex Coralstone on my SAT today. He said it has very low mileage. Sound yummy right out of the box. :D

Bonzo advised me to use undamped arm. And I read his blog about various tricks involve in setting up the Coral to sound really good. So I was worried because I didnt know SAT would work well with Coral or not. Luckil, it works a miracle. This arm doesnt seem to be choosy of carts.

Kind regards,
Tang

Opus 1 has same tonality than Coralstone, and sound is very similar.
Coralstone seems little better and natural on mid and on voice,
Opus 1 little better on deep bass and high
Opus 1 has advantage output that is 0.5 instead 0.2/0.3 of Koetsu

If one can have 2/3 tonearms,Coralstone is fantastic for voice, and few instrument like chamber music and jazz trio

My thoughts too. Lovely analog set. Congratulations!

Hi Gian, in Shakti's system, the koetsu have a stage front and back, wide side to side. The while stage is dense and full bodied, and cohesive. It seems an integrated whole.

Is yours like that, and if yes, how does the Opus compare on the body and the density?

Not answering for Gian.

I actually hear the same. The lush mids do stand out. But, interestingly, what equally "caught my ears" were aspects you mentioned above. However, I am skeptical whether these are turntable's attributes. When you listened at Shakti, were you listening to his Micro?

The Opus is less dense. But not to the degree when you compare Opus to Atlas. I get better transtient and sharp energy more from Opus though.

Kind regards,
Tang

They are not TT attributes, they are the koetsu attributes but I did not hear them in other set ups.

It is fine if not as dense, the Zyx is not as dense but has more detail than koetsu and more body than Lyra and is still my favorite, never heard airtight. I do like that cohesiveness I heard at Shakti's

The opus is more dense in my system because has big mid and deep bass
Listening opus on bergmann and coral on td 124 with koetsu arm I prefer opus on bergmann but I never tried the 2 cartridge in same turntable
I will try
I like Atlas for his high also but I think is little less natural sound than opus and Coralstone
