Personally I’d pass on doubling the cost for the plinth/arm version, ie stick with $10k SP-20R platter/motor option, put it in a bespoke two-tier slate plinth/arm board (plenty of people offer these options), and plonk the lot on an isolation platform.

Apparently cost and size prevented them using a LPS. I think that is a shame but hey. I think the coolest thing I saw was a huge custom linear PS made by Pass Labs as a one off specifically for their mk III. Unobtainium but very cool.
If MF is correct the sp10r will drop into sp10mk2 plinths so all bespoke plinth makers or people who already have a sp10 plinth can just drop it in, be interested to clarify if this is correct
I don't find the price exorbitant by hifi standards at all. Their 4k TT is probably 8k if made by a hifi manufacturer. The new Technics decks have been bargains at their respective price levels, let's hope this is as well.
They also are quite transparent why the new decks cost more.
That is funny Keith. You've only reinforced my exact thoughts... the entire premise of their existence originates in being large enough to sell stuff much cheaper. With their teams of people they can do stuff much quicker and easier. They can make it all for very little with their resources.
If they were small timers I wouldnt have any expectations of price. And I wouldnt even expect the amount of customized parts.

Spent enough time over the past 2 days with the new SP-10. Even though they were using a "lowly" Ortofon XPression, and going through a "not fancy either" Lehmann phono, the sound was pretty incredible.
$5669 is what the Ortofon Xpression cartridge costs. I have long felt uncomfortable in What's Best fi,seems I am now not even comfortable in lowly-fi anymore, nevermind mid-fi.
