Cartridge re-tip, refurbishments

Dear All

Seeing as so many on this forum use expensive cartridges, I am curious as to who is the best re-tipper out there. I am not concerned about the wait, what I care about is:
1. how true (azimith/alignment) the installation is;
2. HAs it lasted well;
3. cost
4. improvements? deterioration?

I am well aware of Soundsmith, I would appreciate experiences people may have had with other re-tippers out there

The best retipper is the maker of your cart. Re-tipped by anyone else, it won't sound/perform the same. That is not your say your newly rebuilt Frankenstein cart won't sound good though...

The best in Italy is Roberto Torlai,that produce also a very good cartridges,

But i think the only thing to do is send the cartridge to original company to re tip

If you have one cheap cartridge you can send to someone of this

I want to second this. Andy Kim retipped and refurbished the windings on my Benz Glider. Very fast turnaound time; boron cantilever and microridge stylus. Essentially upgraded it to an LP-S. It sounds amazing with huge, detailed soundstage.

I used Andy to repair a damaged my damaged Sumiko blue point special EVO3 with a broken cantilever. He answered my e-mails in less than 30 mins. and there were many (lol) & was very helpful in deciding my best path to repair. I went with a boron cantilever & hyper-elliptical stylus he also rebuilt my suspension which was damaged unbeknownst to me.. Andy’s turnaround time was 2 days from receipt of my cartridge to back in the mail to me. His quality of workmanship looks impeccable under my microscope & my EVO 3 sounds better than when it was new (and it sounded fantastic to me new). I would highly recommend Andy to anyone looking to retip their cartridge

I know Torlai very well and he is a great enthusiast and a great expert. In Rome there is Cartridge Lab but I also want to point out https://anamightysound.com/ which also works miracles in the field of abartizing diamond styles and more

Cartridgelab.it is better than Torlai,
He did incredible work with a Clearaudio Golfinger of a friend,Zyx and Etsuro that Torlai dont do
In Italian forum is considered also number 1 in Italy
