Had most of those players at some point, not sure what the tests mean in sonic terms if anything at all but I'm surprised that the EMT 930 was their overall winner, one would think that the DDs should have done better than a 60's idler design...Have a read of this article quite interesting:

I get the impression that it was done by a test records and specs as opposed to an 'ear' test - sadly my Japanese ain't that good

That said if it were a rumble test alone the 930 won't do that well.
If it were a sound quality test then it would be interesting indeed.
