Tinka and I have been listening to Sonos Play 5s for almost a year now. During this time we have had no high-end stereo in operation. From the beginning I was very pleasantly surprised about how good the Play 5 sounds.
Now that I'm comparing the Sonos Play 5 directly to MartinLogan Edge in-wall and Vanquish in-ceiling speakers I feel that we have succumbed to a sonic trick. In comparison to the MartinLogan architectural speakers the Sonos Play 5 sounds full and rich and big and warm and reverberant.
I think we have become accustomed to a wonderfully satisfying but artificial DSP contrivance.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
