Thanks for this farewell video which nearly puts tears in my eyes. I will apparently get my 205 from OPPO’s last production run in June via Magnolia. Thankfully! I saw the announcement just a few days after it appeared in the news but was too late to get one from OPPO. Note that OPPO still has a place on their website where you can add your name to get one from their last run.
FYI, OPPO is considering another run of the 205’s. The OPPO website has a sign up for a potential order. If there is enough interest they may make another batch.
There are also unconfirmed reports that even promise new Oppo players. The new UHD Blu-ray players could enter the market already in 2020. The devices should already be in a progressed stage of development. An official statement is but so far. The allegedly in the course of June 2018 on the new "consortium" will be circulated.

Oppo, China, Pioneer, Panasonic, Sony, Japan ... the future, Samsung, HDR10+, South Korea, LG, Dolby Vision, new 4K Blu-ray players, @ the precipice of 8K, ...it all looks like this game of spinning discs is not over.
And for now the Oppo 205 is the grand master, the Jedi by which everyone else aspire to be inspired from.
Another example of how responsive Oppo is! I feel so sad this company is retiring from this business niche. Also feeling incredibly lucky to have my name called by Oppo last week and am now the happy possessor of a brand new 205.
We are losing the best players on the planet. Nothing comes close, no one else can offer that type of support and firmware updates, zero...not Sony, not LG, not Samsung, nobody.
Panasonic and Pioneer we keep an eye open ... into the future.
The 205 is the Cadillac of all 4K BR players. After it's gone for good, sometimes in August for reservations, there won't be anything in the world approaching it overall.
Some are going to try; Panasonic, Pioneer, Sony...but they'll never surpass or even equal the 205 in overall audio/video performance and firmware updates support...nobody...that'll be the day.
