I thought this might be worth knowing about to, well, anyone... since while in some states they target the poor, in other states they target the wealth, among other strategies. Disturbing, really.

Some headway was made in Michigan last year to eliminate the requirement to post a bond before being giving you time to prove your property was not a result of criminal activity.

PA 418 (HB 4629): Eliminate the requirement that a person who has their property seized by law enforcement pay a bond in order to be granted a hearing contesting that forfeiture.

Civil forfeiture has been used here in Massachusetts to seize homes in retaliation by police against citizens' complaints against them, with the pretense that those owners were growing marijuana, which they themselves planted. Scumbags.

Shocking doesn't begin to describe it; don't want to hijack the thread, but read the following when you have some time, regarding local police behavior:

old: https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2...g-frequency/KaH7EiTyoWx88dsLZpIaHM/story.html
recent: https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2...ice-culture/Q2bs8R8142mSuftfnJL6eK/story.html

I'll let you draw your own conclusions about our state police in particular

Well I don't expect the thread to last. I think awareness is important especially since some of us buy gear second hand or at shows in situations where you could potentially be carrying cash, let alone all the other reasons one might. I feel bad for people that live in Philly... and all innocent people in these situations. From now on I'm changing my MO for exchanges (legal) as the least I can do besides awareness.
