I think once you hear the ARC and the associated tube reproduction realism, you opinions about tube phono's are bound to change. Cheers !

I agree with this. I have heard many ss phono stages, they all leave me thinking I would never swap my tube based for one of them. While ss gear has its adherents, and IMHO ss does have certain great qualities, personally I think tube based systems are simply more realistic sounding to my ears. :D

Oh and to Alex's point, I get a LOT more air with the solid state CH P1 than I do the tubed CAT. Not even close!

Ah, the joy of this (very fun!) hobby :)

It'd not be nearly as fun without all those possibilities and opposing views!

Alex, unfortunately Ian was having a problem with his new CAT preamp...not sure why??? I suspect ( HIGHLY suspect) that Ian is not hearing anything like what his CAT can accomplish. Hopefully, Ian can chime in here and tell us more about his CAT voyage and where he is at currently. I can tell you my CAT has none of the issues that Ian was complaining about and I'm hopeful that Ken Stevens has been helping him out. ( Or his dealer, whoever that is ....which is why one needs a great dealer; like you;) )

I don't see it in the manual—do the LED displays dim at all? Can you turn off the display? How bright are they?

How does the Dag phono compare to the other heavy hitters in the phono game?
