The beauty of light having a finite speed (even though it's the fastest particle speed in the universe) is that the further we look out in space, the further we look back in time.

The laws of nature are such that they allow us to understand nature. That the universe is intelligible is not a necessary given. But here we are, living in an intelligible universe.
