Some of you obviously live in the house of your dreams, but I'm always interested in what type/style of house they would love to live in. I love ultra modern style( opposite of the front area of a Cracker Barrel restaurant). This is my favorite and the top section would be the listening room with 20.7's on one end wall

Yes, in London we have these warehouse conversions, similar to a big garage, more WAF, long continuous space. I would love to live in one, Apogee Full Ranges down the room, horns at the other end, and Mike like system on the long wall (since you can sit close up). All continuous space except for one corner which will have the bathroom, small change room, guest room, etc. Open plan kitchen.
While the systems might be a pipe dream, the warehouse and horns are quite realistic budget wise in a few years.
Between the ages of 13 and 16 I really wanted to be an architect. I had pads full of designs I'd sketched out, with floorpans and elevations and ideas for pools. I was completely obsessed with Mies van der Rohe and his Barcelona Pavillion (still am, in a way). And although my tastes have been tempered and enlarged by time and a greater appreciation of history, the work of Cape Town architects SAOTA is some of the more interesting modernist rectilinear design out there, and although if I'm honest they're not homes I'd aspire to live in myself, if you're a fan of modern architecture their website's worth 20 minutes of your time nonetheless.

Seems as though most of the posters on this thread love super contemporary homes. I once lived in my ideal home but it was just too much space (~5000 sf) for two people. Had great space for my music/home theater room ( 9 to 10 foot ceilings, about 17 x 25 and located in a basement. But life moves on ( and square footage goes down).
..tongue in cheek...we built our "dream house" in Fairhope, AL upon retiring back in 2005...on the 9th fairway of a nice golf course. We only lasted 1.5 yrs...too far from grandkids...sigh

Most of these places are too big for me, but the rooms often too small. I too would like a rather large garage, maybe a shop or such too. And then the scale of the land, outside stuff, and style has a lot to do with if I'd have a house keeper and maybe grounds keeper. I don't take much personal interest in things that need lots of upkeep, but many are nice. Plus I can't mow grass.
